The central business associate in Barack Obama’s rise to wealth and power in the corrupt city of Chicago has been convicted on 16 counts involving political corruption.  Rezko still faces further criminal charges in Chicago and Las Vegas.  Rezko provided Obama with money for his campaigns, jobs for his friends, political muscle throughout the city of Chicago and the state of Illinois — along with the cash and the deal which put Obama and his wife in a Chicago mansion.

Here’s the Chicago Tribune report on Rezko’s conviction.  And see also constant updates at Rezkorama and Rezko Watch.

See also the Chicago Sun-Times Rezko File and the Chicago Tribune Tony Rezko Case page.  The Chicago Tribune also has a special Flash section detailing the complex ins and outs of the Obama-Rezko connection.

Here’s your candidate.  A man intimately involved with one of the most corrupt political players in contemporary American history.  Don’t tell me about the color of the skin, tell me about the content of his character.

UPDATE:  This is pathetic:

“I’m saddened by today’s verdict.  This isn’t the Tony Rezko I knew,
but now he has been convicted by a jury on multiple charges that once
again shine a spotlight on the need for reform.  I encourage the
General Assembly to take whatever steps are necessary to prevent these
kinds of abuses in the future.”

Let’s go to the Powerline reaction

intimate associates. One day soon, will a “saddened” Obama tell us that
the Michelle Obama we see on video is “not the Michelle Obama I knew?”
Time will tell.
