OBAMA TELLS US WHAT A SACRIFICE

Posted by PrestoPundit on 06/02/2008

he made taking the starting salary of a paid Chicago radical, working his way up from the bottom rung of a powerful leftist political machine.  But his salary was almost exactly the same as the starting salary of a college degreed officer in the U.S. military, an officer likely to have a degree in an actual marketable subject (unlike Obama’s PoliSci degree), and likely to have had the benefit of four years of job training in the ROTC or one of the military academies.

Starting salary for a U.S. Military Officer in 1985 was $14,263.20.  This was a the salary for a college degreed officer who could die in the service to his country, and who likely spent much of his time in grueling 24/7 duty in God forsaken places who knows where, rather than in one of the most culturally exciting cities in the nation.

Obama’s “sacrifice” gave him the contacts — and the story line — upon which he built a powerful multi-million dollar political career.  The sacrifice of military personnel enlisting in the late 1980s’ was sometimes their health and sometimes their very lives.  The Obama’s, it’s worth pointing out again, became millionaires.

And yet Barack and Michelle whine and preen about their “burdensome” sacrifices for the collective ..

should have taken the fast track and married a millionaire, like John McCain…why oh why all this nonsensical mudslinging when McCain has pals and advisers lkke lobbyist Phil Graham, who lobbied for the firm that got us the sub-prime swamp?

  2. Of course, if you’re living in an exciting city, that “exciting” life costs much more money than an LT2 would be able to afford.

Ah, but you’re forgetting that joining the military makes you a willing accomplice in the corporatist military-industrial complex, later used by BushyMcHitlerCo to steal oil, or some such.

Living in Chicago and “working” by talking about how crappy the system is that allowed you to go to Ivy League schools and make a living doing nothing more than talking about how crappy the system is…that’s a true sacrifice!

Sadly, those on the hard left will never acknowledge your point. As far as they are concerned $14K annually, even today, is still too much pay for imperialist war mongering tools of the capitalist entity.

Yeah, David Still, McCain married rich. The difference is that you never heard him whining about how tough it was to get by on a measly 500K a year and patting himself on the back for depriving himself by going into public service.

I never thought I’d find a politician more vapid and clueless than Clinton. I was wrong. At least Clinton was an expert liar and could tap dance. This clown can’t jump, and certainly can’t ad-lib.

You said the exact same thing over at “Villainous Company” but under a different name. Do you plan on spamming every blog with the same tired crap?

You’re not being fair to Mr. Obama here: he graduated from Columbia. Like it or not, an Ivy League diploma’s worth a ton more than your average college degree. He really did sacrifice some cash, at least in the short term.
